I have been working as a journalist for over 20 years. After completing an Arts degree in Trinity College Dublin, I went on to do a journalist post graduate in London, and worked at CNN and DSF in Germany, before becoming a writer. I worked for the Sunday Times, Irish Independent, Al Jazeera, Sunday Independent, the Sydney Morning Herald and more.
I have covered the US elections, inauguration of Donald Trump, interviewed the Peru Two in a Peruvian prison, covered the migrant crisis in Europe, homeless crisis in Ireland, Burning Man, Irish Referendums, the World Cup along with numerous Irish and European stories. I’ve reported from townships in Cape Town, Burning Man in the Nevada Desert and the VLT- the largest telelscope in the world among other fun stuff. I love being a journalist and have a brand new Substack account where I write The Weekly Vent - a humour filled look at the world we live in.
Anyway below are some questions and answers to find out more.
How do I hire you? You can contact me here. I do believe my details are all around.
What is your expertise in journalism? I have a post graduation diploma in journalism, and over 20 years experience writing for International and national publications. I write opinion, features, travel, business and investigative stories. I often take photos too.
What are you like to work with? Great. I would say that, but I’m very approachable and certainly don’t have notions of myself. As a journalist and photographer, you need people skills. You need to be able to talk to and photograph a homeless person, diplomat, scientist, dominatrix, school child, far left, far right protestors, Bikers for Trump, marchers for women, refugees, you name it- I have to be able to chat to them, take their photo and make them feel comfortable. I have a great understanding of the human condition, so I’m down with that. It’s a very undervalued skill btw.
Who have you worked with? The Irish Independent, the Irish Times, the Sunday Times, The Times of London, The Evening Standard, DSF, CNN, Al Jazeera, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Mirror, The Sun, Business and Finance, Business Plus and more.
What else do you do? I write newsletters, copyright, help people with marketing and content strategies.
What do you want to do? I love telling stories, engaging people and am not afraid of free thought and critically assessing situations. I' want to continue to not be afraid of voicing my opinion, even if it is deemed unpopular. I’m a huge free speech advocate believe it to be the cornerstone of democracy and something we shouldn’t take for granted.
